A Woman Shot While Returning From Casino
What began as a fun night at the River City Casino in St. Louis, took a dark turn, as a woman was attacked, beaten and shot on her way back home, early on Wednesday (Jan 4). The woman, who remains anonymous, and her husband were on their way back home from the River City Casino when they got jumped by an armed assailant.
The Attack
A wife and husband decided to have some fun at the local casino. After a night of entertainment at the River City Casino in St. Louis, they were heading back home, to Pennsylvania Avenue, near St. Pleasants Street. This is where the attack took place. An armed assailant attacked the couple, pistol-whipped and shot the woman, in an attempt to rob them.
The family believes that someone had seen them gambling at the casino, and had thought the couple had won a huge sum. So, whoever it was that attacked them followed them from the casino and was waiting for them as soon as they arrived home. The shooter, seemingly female, pulled a gun and demanded the couple hand over their cash. The husband, was not willing to give it up, however. A fight ensued, during which the assailant opened fire, hitting the woman in the leg.
They then pistol-whipped her and ran off, without getting anything.
Naturally, the woman was rushed to the hospital, but not before contacting her daughter, who has asked to remain anonymous. In an interview, the daughter had this to say: “I thought it was odd she was calling me so late in the night…she face-timed me and she was all injured and bleeding.” She went on to say, “She’s still traumatized from it, still in a little shock.” The daughter recounted her parents’ testimony, saying that the shooter attempted to take another shot at her mother, but missed, before running off. Blood and a bullet hole still remain on the family’s porch, a chilling reminder of the attack.
The shooting survivor is now out of the hospital and is seemingly recovering from the whole ordeal. Understandably, she is still shaken. The daughter said in a final interview “[…] something you just don’t believe is going to happen to you and ends up just mind-blowing… I’m just glad she’s ok because it could’ve ended up differently where she wouldn’t be alive right now.”
Conclusion
Luckily, the attack left no casualties. However, the family is still experiencing serious trauma, and it would certainly make them feel better if the culprit was caught. Anyone with any information about the attack should contact St. Louis police. According to the testimonies so far, the attacker was wearing a black hoody and had their face covered with a face mask.
