Bartender at Rivers Casino Accused of Embezzling Nearly $4,500
A bartender working at Rivers Casino is facing allegations of stealing close to $4,500 from the cash register drawer assigned to him.
Manager’s Alert Leads to Investigation
The suspicion arose when the casino’s managers noticed discrepancies in Owen Kiggans’ cash register for several consecutive weeks. This prompted them to alert the police, initiating a thorough investigation into the matter.
A Gambling Problem Exposed
Upon reviewing the surveillance footage, law enforcement officials witnessed Kiggans discreetly slipping three $100 bills into his pocket. When confronted, he initially denied the accusations, but eventually admitted to the thefts, confessing that he was grappling with a severe gambling problem.
During the questioning, Kiggans acknowledged pilfering a total of $4,450 over a 24-day span. Moreover, he shockingly revealed that his thievery extended even further back, estimating his total thefts to be around $10,000 since December of 2022.
As a consequence of his actions, Kiggans has been charged with theft by unlawful taking and may face legal repercussions for his illicit activities.
