Concertgoer Files Police Report Over Cardi B’s Mic Launch
A concertgoer filed a police report on Sunday, July 30, claiming to have been struck by the microphone hurled into the crowd by Cardi B during her concert at Drai’s on the Las Vegas Strip a day earlier. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) confirmed that the woman reported a “battery,” making Cardi B the first music star to face such an incident.
Cardi B’s Mic-Throwing Escapades Spark Controversy
Cardi B took an unconventional approach when she hurled her microphone at an audience member during her performance of “Bodak Yellow,” leaving her sheer orange dress soaked. The incident went viral on Twitter and TikTok, garnering 57 million views by Sunday morning. Cardi B seemed undeterred by the situation and even retweeted the video, using it to promote her rapper-husband Offset’s music, notably his song “Jealousy.”
While no charges were filed or arrests made as of Sunday morning, the incident raised questions about whether the microphone connected with its intended target. Some reports claimed that Cardi B encouraged fans to throw water on her due to the excessive heat in Sin City. Despite the circumstances, fans endured sweltering temperatures for two hours before the headliner took the stage.
This wasn’t the first time Cardi B resorted to such actions. She had also thrown a microphone at her DJ during a performance of “I Like It” at Drai’s the day before the “Bodak Yellow” incident.
