Casino Woodbine Workers on Strike

Casino Woodbine Workers on Strike

Canada is one of the casino hubs of the world as it has a solid number of casino fans looking to enjoy their games. They have loads of operators that offer online casino sites as well as land-based casino venues.

Casino Woodbine in the Greater Toronto Area happens to be one of them. Recently, some of its workers have been striving to get better working conditions. The staff is looking for more shifts and better wages. The casino had them locked out and they are out on the premises looking to make a point.

They’re Looking for Better Working Conditions

Casino venues employ loads of staff to keep their premises operational. However, some casino managers do a better job when it comes to taking care of them. Woodbine Casino happens to be an example of the latter.

Their officials have locked out 945 dealers, slot technicians, cashiers, and other members of the workforce which is why they took matters into their own hands. They might have stated that they aren’t on strike, but they didn’t waste time getting attention.

Most of the staff at the Casino Woodbine happen to be part-time workers. They’re looking to get more shifts, specifically three shifts per week to get by. Moreover, most of these workers are paid under the minimum wage and they would like that not to be the case.

All in all, they’re looking for better working conditions. Their strike got the attention of the locals who showed their support by honking their horns. The thing about venues like Casino Woodbine is that they make between $5 million and $9 million daily which means they can afford to pay their staff appropriately.

Either way, the staff are out there looking to get better conditions. They might get the attention of unions and get their point across. Alternatively, they can negotiate with the officials of Casino Woodbine and get what they need. For the time being, it seems that their strike will take some time to get the point across. Casino staff help the casino operate and that’s why they should be taken care of.

Conclusion

Woodbine Casino staff have been locked out of the premises and they are on a strike looking to get better working conditions. Better wages and more shifts are some of the things they’re looking for and they’re willing to strike to get their point across.
