FanDuel Comes Down to Las Vegas

FanDuel Comes Down to Las Vegas

It’s no secret that Las Vegas is home to a variety of brands. There are all sorts of casino venues available on the Strip and they are run by big names like Boyd Gaming. The Fremont Casino is one of the venues that is operated by this company and it has an announcement to make.

The Fremont Casino is well-known to casino players and sports fans as well because it has a sportsbook on offer. And recently there have been talks of FanDuel taking over the sportsbooks. This re-branding will need to be approved before it happens. In addition, the situation with draft fantasy sports in Nevada has been developing for quite some time.

Nevada and DFS

Betting on sports is legal in Nevada, but the problem arose in 2015 when the Control Board banned fantasy sports. That’s why operators like FanDuel and Draft Kings needed to close shop. The Control Board argues that fantasy sports are games based on luck, rather than skill which is why they need a gaming license like any other operator in the state.

Both operators filed for such a license in 2021 Draft Kings hasn’t had much luck. In other words, the licensing process is taking long. It is expected for this process to bear fruit in 2023. But FanDuels has a better chance as it will have a shot at a license this August.

The Re-Branding Process

The sportsbook at the Fremont Casino has been chosen as the venue for taking fantasy sports to the next level in Vegas, and therefore Nevada. The sportsbook at this hotel and casino has been chosen for rebranding and it will don the appearance of a FanDuel sportsbook. This is a rebranding that will take fantasy sports to the next level on the Strip.

However, there are 2 meetings that FanDuels representatives will need to go through before getting their operating license and rebranding the sportsbook. Rules must be followed in Nevada which is why licenses need to be issued under strict regulations. Boyd Gaming is the operator of the casino and has made a deal to represent FanDuel by rebranding the said sportsbook.

Conclusion

When FanDuel gets the appropriate license for operating, the sportsbook at Fremont Casino will become a FanDuel sportsbook that will propel fantasy sports in Vegas and Nevada. The Strip never fails to entertain its people which is why the introduction of FanDuel will be no different as it will increase the Strip’s value.
