Legends Casino Under Lockdown
Washington has had a tricky situation recently. Legends Casino happened to be involved in it as a carjacking suspect decided to park near the casino and take a nap. The casino was under lockdown until the suspect was apprehended.
The negotiations were conducted during the lockdown and lasted from Monday evening to Tuesday morning. The man had a gun on his lap, and the police needed to use non-lethal ammo to disarm him. Eventually, the man was arrested and booked into jail where he was awaiting trial. Luckily, no one else was hurt.
Suspect Arrested, Lockdown Lifted
Legends Casino is a venue that’s well-known to Washington players. But the ones that were there on Monday evening had to stay until Tuesday morning because of the dangerous situation. The parking lot of the casino had a car with a suspect in it, and they had to stay in the casino while the police dealt with the situation.
The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office responded to the situation. The suspect was in a car and he was sleeping. The man had a gun on his lap and the police had to wake him to deal with the situation. Once the suspect saw the police he took his gun and pointed it to his head.
He refused to put the gun down until he talked to his family and relatives. The police took a while to get the people on the phone and once his request was granted, he agreed to unload the gun. But he wouldn’t give in to the police’s requests to surrender the gun.
That’s when the officers decided to use more persuasive measures and fired a few shots of non-lethal rounds. The suspect was injured, but he still refused to surrender his weapon. Finally, the police decided to use a K-9 unit to disarm him.
The suspect was injured and was treated in the nearby hospital after he was arrested. He was booked in jail where he’s awaiting trial. After the lockdown was lifted the visitors at Legends Casino could go home or continue playing if they wanted to.
The police handled the situation well as only the suspect was hurt because he wouldn’t surrender his weapon. He was a suspect in a carjacking and several other crimes. After negotiations went sour, the police used all means to apprehend the suspect. When the ordeal was finished, the suspect was treated at a hospital and booked into jail.
