Rapper Blueface Arrested for Alleged Robbery at Palms Casino in Las Vegas
Los Angeles rapper Blueface, whose real name is Johnathan Jamall Porter, was taken into custody this week for his involvement in an alleged robbery at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. The incident occurred last week when a woman was filming Porter’s girlfriend, Chrisean Rock, using her cell phone. It is claimed that Porter forcefully seized the phone from the woman.
Porter, 26, was apprehended when he voluntarily appeared at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas for an unrelated case. His defense attorney, Kristina Wildeveld, expressed optimism about a swift resolution to the charges. Wildeveld stated, “We are hopeful we can quickly resolve this for him to everyone’s satisfaction along with his current charges,” in an interview with the Las Vegas Review Journal.
Prior Criminal Charges and Attempted Murder
This is not the first time Blueface has encountered legal trouble. In November of the previous year, he was arrested on charges of attempted murder and firing a gun into an occupied vehicle. The incident occurred outside a strip club called Euphoric Gentlemen’s Club, where a man had allegedly made a derogatory comment about Porter. In response, Porter shot at a truck driver who had previously engaged in a confrontation with his crew. Fortunately, the victim suffered only a minor injury to his hand.
Porter had been held in custody at the Clark County Detention Center but was released on Thursday, as indicated by online jail records. His bail had been set at $20,000. He was expected to appear in court on Thursday for the recent robbery charge, while the attempted murder charge is scheduled for the following Wednesday.
History of Legal Issues
Blueface has a history of legal issues, including gun possession charges in 2022 and 2019. The earlier gun possession charge was eventually dropped. He was also arrested in November 2018 for assault with a deadly weapon and in 2021 for allegedly assaulting a bouncer outside a club in California’s San Fernando Valley.
Additionally, Porter is facing civil lawsuits stemming from the October shooting incident. One of the lawsuits has been filed against him by the Euphoric Gentlemen’s Club.
Popularity with “Thotiana”
Despite his legal troubles, Blueface gained considerable popularity with his hip-hop hit “Thotiana” in 2019. The song was ranked as the 26th-best song of that year by Billboard magazine.
