The Foxwood Resort Casino is Expanding
It was only a few hours ago that the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation announced their plans to expand the Foxwood Resort Casino. The Connecticut-based reservation has been running the Foxwood in Ledyard for over 30 years. It was in 1986 that the establishment first opened, operating as a bingo gaming house. Six years later it would expand into the casino business, and five years after that, a hotel.
The Expansion Will Cost Over $80 Million
Now, in 2022, the owners have seen fit to expand once again. And they certainly aren’t holding back. Reports say that the new casino will be worth around $85 million. If all goes according to plan, the building should be open during the summer of 2023.
The casino will include a 50,000 square foot room for gaming. In it, visitors will be treated to slot and video poker machines, as well as a plethora of gaming tables, boasting a wide variety of games. If the rest of the establishment’s casinos are anything to go by, visitors should expect blackjack tables, craps tables, roulette wheels, and, of course, poker.
When asked to share some thoughts on the expansion, a Foxwood Resort spokesperson claimed that they were very excited by this development. He further went on to state that this was the most significant expansion in the world of gaming since 2008.
The Expansion Marks the 30th Anniversary of the Casino
Some might ask “why now?” The Foxwood Resort and Casino has started up this project as a sort of celebration. It is, after all, the 30th anniversary of their original casino’s opening. The President and chief executive officer of Foxwood, Jason Guyot claimed that his team bolsters a commitment to improving the Foxwood experience, and it is this commitment that will shine through when all is said and done.
But, the new establishment is not only coming with a new gaming space. It will, reportedly, also house a fine restaurant, a bar boasting 40 seats and some extra slot machines, and a luxurious gambling space. Certainly, from all that we know, it will live up to the standards that the Foxwood resort has set for itself as a leader in the hospitality and gaming industry.
For those who want to visit, the casino will be located in the Grand Ballroom in the Grand Pequot. However, you will need to wait a year, as construction will start in November, and is expected to be finished in the summer of 2023.
