WSOP Slip up Causes Outrage
Poker is one of the most popular casino games played online and offline. The World Series of Poker is therefore one of the most popular events that poker players enjoy. The main event this year caused outrage or a scandal because of what had happened.
Kauert was one of the players that attended the main event and he apparently lost a spot in the main event by having a strong hand. The pot was supposed to be chopped, but this didn’t happen. Luckily, the event was streamed live and viewers pointed out the mistake.
No Chop Pot Despite Strong Hand
Events like these get a big audience which is why they are available on digital platforms. In this case, it turned out that the streamers were paying attention and pointed out the mistake when it happened. Kauert had lost his spot in the tournament with a pretty strong hand, a hand that was to lead to a chop pot.
The King’s Casino officials issued a statement that claimed that poker dealers undergo a rigorous training course of 6 weeks before taking on a challenge such as the World Series of Poker. Kauert may have cashed a prize of €58,000 and a main event ticket, but he failed to read his hand. They take responsibility for any mistakes that may happen when it comes to staff members, namely the dealers.
Lupo and Kauert were facing each other in that particular situation at the main event of the World Series. The latter was all in with a combination of a Jack of spades and a 10 of hearts. On the other hand, Lupo had a King of spades and a Jack of hearts. The pot held an amount of 2.2 million.
The additional cards started coming in as the dealer was moving to the next sequence of events. The flop was made up of an Ace of hearts, a Queen of clubs and 6 of spades. On the turn, a Jack of diamonds gave them both a pair.
Kauert needed a six or a queen to chop pot or a king to win the hand. The dealer dealt a 6 of diamonds, but no player noticed it was a chop pot. He started saying goodbye to the players and he collected his winnings. Later on, people watching the event on the stream pointed out the mistake.
Conclusion
Mistakes like these can happen, but both parties should take extra precautions so they don’t happen again. The situation is under development and there’s no telling how the event is going to proceed.
